Import and Export Directory Listings via CSV

Directify provides powerful import and export capabilities to help you manage your listings in bulk. You can easily import listings from a CSV file and export your existing listings to CSV format.

Importing Listings

To import listings into your directory:

1. Download the example CSV file to see the correct format
2. Prepare your CSV file with the following columns:

Required Fields

• name - The listing name (required, max 255 characters)

Optional Fields

• description - A brief description of the listing
• content - Detailed content/body text for the listing
• url - Website URL (max 255 characters)
• phone_number - Contact phone number (max 255 characters)
• email - Contact email address (max 255 characters)
• address - Physical address (max 255 characters)
• city - City or area, used by the location filter, city browsing and title patterns (max 255 characters). A blank cell keeps the listing’s current city
• tags - Comma separated list of tags (max 255 characters)
• is_no_follow - SEO nofollow setting (1/0, true/false, yes/no, y/n)
• is_featured - Featured listing status (1/0, true/false, yes/no, y/n)
• is_active - Published status (1/0, true/false, yes/no, y/n)
• logo_url - URL to listing logo image (max 255 characters)
• image_url - URL to listing cover image (max 255 characters)

Import Settings

When importing, you can configure:

1. Categories - Assign imported listings to specific categories
2. Update Existing - Choose whether to update existing records
3. Default Publishing - Set whether imported listings should be published by default (this will override the is_active field in the CSV file)

Import Results

After the import completes, you’ll see a notification in the top-right corner with:

• Number of successfully imported articles
• Number of failed imports
• Option to download detailed results

The results file includes all attempted imports with status and error messages. To review failures:

1. Download the results CSV
2. Scroll right to see the “Error” column
3. Review specific error messages for each failed row

Common error messages include:

• Invalid title length
• Missing required fields
• Malformed dates
• Invalid URLs

Translations

On directories with more than one language, the import and export also carry translations: one column per field and language, headed field:code.

• Import: the column mapping lists a column for each translatable field and extra language (e.g. “Name (Spanish)”). Headers named name:es are matched automatically. Empty cells leave existing translations as they are.
• Export: the file includes the same columns, so you can send it to a translator and import it back.
• source_locale (“Language of the text”): the language code a row’s own name and description are written in, e.g. es. Leave it empty for the directory’s default language. For such listings the export also includes the default language’s columns (e.g. name:en).

Translatable columns: name, slug, description, content, seo_title, seo_description.

Exporting Listings

You can export all your listings to CSV format for backup or bulk editing purposes. The exported file will contain all the fields listed above.
